Haktech: 23-Year-Old Pleads Guilty to Hacking Sony
Cody Kretsinger today pleaded guilty to the 2011 hack of Sony Pictures, acknowledging that he passed along information to other members of the LulzSec spinoff of Anonymous.
arrested and charged Thursday in connection with the breach of computers at Sony Pictures Entertainment early this summer in which more than 37,000 users had their information stolen.
Cody Kretsinger, 23, of Tempe, Arizona, was arrested and expected to make a court appearance later Thursday in a Phoenix courtroom.
An indictment unsealed in Los Angeles charged Kretsinger with one count each of conspiracy and unauthorized impairment of a protected computer. If convicted of both counts, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
A suspected member of LulzSec, Kretsinger and co-conspirators obtained confidential information from Sony Pictures’ computer systems using an “SQL injection” attack against its website. And if convicted, Kretsinger will face 15 years in prison.
Earlier this summer the FBI arrested 14 members of Anonymous, which is a clear sign that – along with this arrest – law enforcement is stepping up its efforts to bring down the “hacktivist” community.

Haktech: Rumors: PS4 Blocks Used Games And Not Backward Compatible
The first round of rumors regarding the PlayStation 4 carries a lot of unwelcome news for gamers.
There is nothing surprising in the expected technical details. The PlayStation 3 successor, currently codenamed “Orbis” is expected to sport an AMD CPU and GPU that’ll make it capable of running stereoscopic 3D games at full 1080p HD (unlike the PS3 which limits 3D games to 720p resolution). The GPU’s maximum resolution will be 4096x2160 which is also the maximum resolution achieved by HD TVs shown during this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.
Additionally, it is rumored that the upcoming PlayStation console will not be backward compatible with current PlayStation 3 games.
A big negative for the upcoming console is that it ties games to a single PSN account, hence limiting the ability to resell used games. Under this system, second hand games will run in demo or trial mode unless they pay a fee to unlock the full game.
The last bit of rumor circulating today is that Orbis/PS 4 will be released during the 2013 Holidays season. It is worth noting that Sony’s CEO Kaz Hirai has stated clearly that they won’t reveal any new consoles during E3 in June 2012.

The razer blade gaming laptop
The Razer Blade is apparently a big hit, even with its high $2,799 price. The gaming PC-themed laptop, which was first announced last August, has now sold out of its first wave of units, according to a post on the company's Facebook page. Razer didn't give a specific number of how many of the Razer Blade notebooks were sold.
For those people who didn't get a chance to purchase the first versions of the laptop, Razer's message states:
"Rest assured that we’re working hard to meet the demand and get them back in stock by mid February. We will update you again once our next batch is finished and we are doing all that we can to keep up with the demand."
Just to recap, the Razer Blade is a a 17 inch notebook but weights just under 7 pounds and is only .86 inches thick. It comes with a small LCD placed next to the keyboard that can display things like in-game information, or can be used as a second small monitor to watch YouTube videos or surf the net while you play games on the main screen. It also has 10 special keys above the LCD screen that can change depending on which game is being played on the Razer.
Inside it has a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 2640M processor, 8 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M graphics chip with 2 GB of video memory, a HD web cam built into the case, a 256 GB SSD, two USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.0 port, and an HDMI port.

Microsoft: Kinect for Windows 1.5 software due in late May
It's been close to two months since Microsoft first launched the Kinect for Windows device, along with the 1.0 version of its SDK. This week, Microsoft announced that the 1.5 version of the SDK would be released sometime in late May with a number of new features and improvements.
Among the new additions will be Kinect Studio. Microsoft says it will help Kinect software developers by recording and playing back clips of people who are using the applications they are making for the device. It will also add what Microsoft is calling 10-joint skeletal tracking and it will allow Kinect for Windows apps to track the head, neck and arms of a user if he or she is standing up or sitting down.
The 1.5 SDK will include support for four new spoken languages, French, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. It will also support some specific dialects for the Kinect voice recognition features such as how residents in the UK and Ireland speak English or how Canadians speak French.
Microsoft also announced that Kinect for Windows will be available for sale in late May in Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan. It will expand to even more countries in June, including Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, India, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates.
