Haktech: Shu Qi caught in disputes
It seems that the rumoured disputes between "Ip Man" star Donnie Yen and "Once Upon a Time in China" star may be much more serious than they seem when reported last, with Taiwanese actress Shu Qi being the latest victim, according to Asia One.
The "A Beautiful Life" star was attacked by Zhao's fans online following her open support of Yen's professional attitude.
"He is very serious about every scene so that it is beautifully presented to the audiences," posted Shu Qi on March 20 on her Weibo.
"Even though he was shivering in the cold weather and suffering from cramps, he did his best to carry on shooting whenever he heard the word 'Actor!'"
She added, "He is a good big brother, good actor and good man."
Zhao supporters then responded by anonymously reposting her old nude photos on her page, saying they were for 're-visiting'.
The incident caused the 36-year-old actress to delete all her posts and followers on Weibo.
For those who are unaware, it was said that Yen and Zhao had disagreements and differences of opinions while working on their new film "Special Identity".
Sources stated that the disputes began when Zhao was replaced by Hong Kong actor Andy On due to his diva-like attitude. He refused to follow orders given by Yen, who is the producer, action director and lead actor in the film.
However, according to Zhao,it was Yen who was at fault as he changed the script frequently and without notice, as well as reducing his parts.
Yen has already threatened legal action against Zhao for defamation.

Haktech: The Story of The One Omgpop Dev Who Refused To Join Zynga Cause It Is Evil
After having its games as the top played games on Facebook for four years, a relatively obscure studio named Omgpop managed to dethrone Zynga and have its game, Draw Something, at the top of that chart.
Zynga reacted to this threat in a mega-corporate manner and bought off its new competitor by acquiring the studio with all its assets and employees… except one.
Shay Pierce was going to sign his Zynga contract when he noticed a clause about “conflicts of interests” that alarmed him. The game designer and developer had (and still has) an iPhone game published on the App Store in his own name and this was considered as a conflict of interests that should be resolved by relinquishing all intellectual property rights to Zynga according to the company’s standard employment contract.
The game, Connectrode, is not a top seller and it has stopped generating revenue long before the acquisition but it had sentimental value to its creator. Pierce tried to negotiate a compromise with Zynga but they wouldn’t budge.
“And then I wondered: why was I even trying to compromise?” he pondered. “Zynga has an Austin studio, where several good friends of mine work. Yet I had never applied to Zynga. Why? Because the company's values are completely opposed to my own values, professionally and creatively. Because I believe that developers are at the front lines of game development and deserve to be treated well, and I didn't trust Zynga to do so. All this was still true -- except that their complete unwillingness to negotiate with me only confirmed my concerns. Why on earth was I even considering joining?
It's not easy to pass up a lucrative salary and solid benefits, of course. But I realized that ultimately I was letting myself be guided by simple inertia. I was part of a herd, and that herd was all going in one direction (and doing so with great urgency). I would really only be doing it for the sake of going with the flow, and responding to pressure to either conform to corporate expectations, or be left behind.
These are not good reasons to join a company whose values are the opposite of your own, or to compromise your ideals, or to give up control of something you rightfully own.
I politely declined to join Zynga and became the only Omgpop employee to be left behind. I don't have a job; but I can sleep soundly at night knowing that I'm not working for any employer with whom I strongly disagree.”
Some people argue that companies cannot be classified as “good” or “evil,” but Shay Pierce disagrees. “An evil company is trying to get rich quick, and has no regard for the harm they're doing along the way,” he clarified. “It's not making things of value, it's chasing a gold rush. An evil game company isn't really interested in making games, it's too busy playing a game -- a game with the stock market, usually. It views players as weak-minded cash cows; and it views its developers as expendable, replaceable tools to create the machines that milk those cows. It follows unsustainable practices (like cloning or even completely screwing innovators; or abusing viral channels until they have to be curtailed) -- all practices which, in the long-term, not only make things worse for every other company in the industry, but ultimately for itself. Zynga is not the only one of these, but yes, they fit my definition.”

Haktech: Rumors: PS4 Blocks Used Games And Not Backward Compatible
The first round of rumors regarding the PlayStation 4 carries a lot of unwelcome news for gamers.
There is nothing surprising in the expected technical details. The PlayStation 3 successor, currently codenamed “Orbis” is expected to sport an AMD CPU and GPU that’ll make it capable of running stereoscopic 3D games at full 1080p HD (unlike the PS3 which limits 3D games to 720p resolution). The GPU’s maximum resolution will be 4096x2160 which is also the maximum resolution achieved by HD TVs shown during this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.
Additionally, it is rumored that the upcoming PlayStation console will not be backward compatible with current PlayStation 3 games.
A big negative for the upcoming console is that it ties games to a single PSN account, hence limiting the ability to resell used games. Under this system, second hand games will run in demo or trial mode unless they pay a fee to unlock the full game.
The last bit of rumor circulating today is that Orbis/PS 4 will be released during the 2013 Holidays season. It is worth noting that Sony’s CEO Kaz Hirai has stated clearly that they won’t reveal any new consoles during E3 in June 2012.

Haktech: Transgender model cut from Canada Miss Universe
With blonde locks, long legs and delicate features, Jenna Talackova
would have been a strong competitor in Canada's Miss Universe pageant
but was disqualified, she says, because she used to be male.
South Korea's Mini (left) and Canada's Jenna Talackova (centre) pose for pictures backstage ahead of the Miss International Queen 2010 beauty pageant in south-eastern Thailand's city of Pattaya, late on Nov 19, 2010. Jenna Talackova was disqualified from the 2012 Canada Miss Universe pageant, she says, because she used to be male
The 23-year-old transgender model from the western Canadian city of Vancouver has accused the pageant of discrimination, and more than 28,000 supporters have signed an online petition demanding her reinstatement.
The organizers of the Canada Miss Universe pageant said on their website on Friday that Ms Talackova was disqualified because 'she did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form,' without providing further details.
The Beauties of Canada Organization, which organizes the pageant, says it has the exclusive right to send a contestant to the Miss Universe Pageant, a joint production of US real-estate magnate Donald Trump and NBC Universal.
Haktech:California loses data for over 800,000 people
California loses data for over 800,000 people
Losing your information can never be a good thing, but when it is the fault of an agency designed to keep your information safe, it is worse still. This nightmare has become a reality within the state of California. During a disaster preparedness exercise, the California Department of Child Support Services lost four storage devices. They're not sure where they lost them, either.
Physorg reported on the disastrous incident, which happened earlier this month, on March 12th. The department only acknowledged the issue on Thursday, March 29th. Somewhere between Boulder, Colorado, and Sacramento, these storage devices went missing, and there is every chance they could have fallen into the hands of individuals with malicious intent. These devices were in the possession of Iron Mountain and IBM when they went missing. Stored upon the devices is the following cheat-sheet to identity theft:
Addresses
Driver's license numbers
Names of health insurance providers
Employers for custodial parents
Employers for non-custodial parents
Children
You may be wondering why these devices were being moved. According to spokeswoman Christine Lalley of the Office of Technology Services, they were being sent to IBM as a disaster simulation. In the event of a disaster this was to discover whether IBM could run the Californian state's child support system remotely. Testing proved successful, and the cartridges were to be sent back. Iron Mountain provide secure transport for materials such as these for the state, barring one issue: they don't do flights. Incredibly, the data was sent through FedEx instead.
The current theory from which Lalley and the Office of Technology Services are working is that the container that these devices were stored in was not secure. Therefore, they must have fallen out... somewhere.
Those affected by the breach are advised to put a fraud alert on their credit cards, get copies of their credit reports, and take all other steps to protect their identities. On the plus side they have said that the incident will not have any impact on the processing of child support cases.

Mozilla launches HTML5 MMO game BrowserQuest
Mozilla launches HTML5 MMO game BrowserQuest
Mozilla is not exactly known for its games but that changed today with the organization behind the Firefox web browser launched BrowserQuest. The browser-based fantasy MMO game is now live for anyone to play. BrowserQuest was co-developed by Mozilla along with Little Workshop and was created as a way to showcase how games could be created with HTML5-based code along with JavaScript.
In terms of gameplay, it's pretty basic for a MMO title with 2D top down graphics. Players can gather items, travel to other parts of the world, fight monsters, and gain achievements. The game can support thousands of players, according to a post on the Hacks.Mozilla.org page. The source code for BrowserQuest is open source and can be downloaded at GitHub. The WebSockets server code is also available for download.
Mozilla says that BrowserQuest can be played on Firefox, Chrome and Safari browsers (no mention of Internet Explorer). It can also be played on Opera when WebSockets is enabled. It can also be played on iOS-based devices like the iPhone or iPad and the Firefox browser for Android can also run the game on Android-based smartphones and tablets.
Of course, HTLM5-based browser games are nothing new

Google Chrome is a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier. Use one box for everything--type in the address bar and get suggestions for both search and Web pages. Thumbnails of your top sites let you access your favorite pages instantly with lightning speed from any new tab. Haktech: Microsoft goes open-source with their web stack
It's fair to say that the Microsoft of today little resembles that from
ten years ago. In fact, the whole software ecosystem and development
model at Microsoft is changing rapidly, opening up and moving towards a
more collaborative, community-embracing model.
Announced by Scott Guthrie, the VP of the Microsoft Developer Division, and detailed further by Scott Hanselman, Principal Program Manager for Microsoft's Web Platform, Microsoft has started publishing more technologies as fully open-source projects. In his recent blog post, Guthrie detailed how the popular ASP.NET MVC framework, and associated ASP.NET WebAPI and WebPages frameworks are now open-source. He further cemented this by announcing that these projects are no longer licensed using the Microsoft Public License (MS-PL), but are now provided under the Apache License 2.0. These new projects are available online at their new home at CodePlex.
What does this mean at Microsoft? Are we seeing a major shift in future development for a wider selection of Microsoft technologies?
With last years move to host the Azure development tools on Github, CodePlex's own recent announcement of Git support, and support for Node.js on Windows Azure, developers are presented with a raft of opportunities for using the Microsoft platform, increasing both competition and innovation among developers.

The razer blade gaming laptop
The Razer Blade is apparently a big hit, even with its high $2,799 price. The gaming PC-themed laptop, which was first announced last August, has now sold out of its first wave of units, according to a post on the company's Facebook page. Razer didn't give a specific number of how many of the Razer Blade notebooks were sold.
For those people who didn't get a chance to purchase the first versions of the laptop, Razer's message states:
"Rest assured that we’re working hard to meet the demand and get them back in stock by mid February. We will update you again once our next batch is finished and we are doing all that we can to keep up with the demand."
Just to recap, the Razer Blade is a a 17 inch notebook but weights just under 7 pounds and is only .86 inches thick. It comes with a small LCD placed next to the keyboard that can display things like in-game information, or can be used as a second small monitor to watch YouTube videos or surf the net while you play games on the main screen. It also has 10 special keys above the LCD screen that can change depending on which game is being played on the Razer.
Inside it has a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 2640M processor, 8 GB of RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M graphics chip with 2 GB of video memory, a HD web cam built into the case, a 256 GB SSD, two USB 2.0 ports, a USB 3.0 port, and an HDMI port.

Microsoft: Kinect for Windows 1.5 software due in late May
It's been close to two months since Microsoft first launched the Kinect for Windows device, along with the 1.0 version of its SDK. This week, Microsoft announced that the 1.5 version of the SDK would be released sometime in late May with a number of new features and improvements.
Among the new additions will be Kinect Studio. Microsoft says it will help Kinect software developers by recording and playing back clips of people who are using the applications they are making for the device. It will also add what Microsoft is calling 10-joint skeletal tracking and it will allow Kinect for Windows apps to track the head, neck and arms of a user if he or she is standing up or sitting down.
The 1.5 SDK will include support for four new spoken languages, French, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. It will also support some specific dialects for the Kinect voice recognition features such as how residents in the UK and Ireland speak English or how Canadians speak French.
Microsoft also announced that Kinect for Windows will be available for sale in late May in Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan. It will expand to even more countries in June, including Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, India, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates.

China: All your secret are belong to us!
We all know that China has trouble coming up with original ideas that don't involve oppression, but who knew that their blatant copying and bootlegging had gotten this bad? Richard Clarke, a former cybersecurity advisor who served under Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush told the Smithsonian that China has hacked into every major American company to steal their R&D.
Clarke, who runs a cybersecurity firm called Good Harbor nowadays, has been spreading some really interesting ideas to promote his new book, Cyber War. In the book, Clarke paints a pretty startling picture of the future of warfare and modern cybersecurity issues, like the Stuxnet worm.
“I'm about to say something that people think is an exaggeration, but I think the evidence is pretty strong: every major company in the United States has already been penetrated by China,” Clarke told The Smithsonian. It's the same with Britain, too. The really scary part is that it's not just consumer goods that they're targeting, but even military manufacturer. Chinese hackers already have information on the US' next generation fighter bomber, the F-35.
Even worse, important systems could easily be compromised by trojans and backdoors built into their Chinese components. “My greatest fear is that, rather than having a cyber-Pearl Harbor event, we will instead have this death of a thousand cuts. Where we lose our competitiveness by having all of our R&D stolen by the Chinese. And we never really see this single event that makes us do something about it.”
So, what do we do? Is it already too late? Clarke doesn't offer much in the way of solutions in the interview, other than noting that US cybersystems has strong offensive systems and a weak defensive structure. This is a man who knows what he's talking about (back in 2001, he tried – and failed – to warn the government that Al-Qaeda was planning a major attack on American soil), so it is worth listening to what he's got to say, even if he is trying to sell a book.
The Smithsonian sums up their interview pretty nicely:
[We] left Clarke's office feeling that we are at a moment very much like the summer of 2001, when Clarke made his last dire warning. “A couple hundred people have labelled me as Cassandra,” Clarke says. “And I've gone back and read my mythology about Cassandra. And the way I read the mythology, it's pretty clear that Cassandra was right.”
Maybe it's about time the US government starts worrying about the threats other countries pose to it, and less about taking care of dinosaur industries that can't get people to keep them alive.

To share Printers attached to XP computers with either X-64 or X-32 versions of Windows 7
To share Printers attached to XP computers with either X-64 or X-32 versions of Windows 7 is SIMPLE. These instructions are for the Printer attached to the XP machine (but works in reverse as well).
("Stand alone" Network printers can be done slightly similarly BTW).
assume the computers are call XPMACHINE and W7MACHINE.
1) Ensure Printer on XP machine is shared - assume it's called SHAREDPRINTER.
2) On the Network Browsing on your Windows 7 machine ensure you can "See" the Printer share.
Now on the Windows 7 machine do the following (doesn't matter if it's X-86 or x-64).
3) Control Panel==> add LOCAL (Yes LOCAL) printer. I know it's on a Network but hold your horses -- what we are actually doing is "Poodlefaking" the Windows 7 machine into thinking it's running the printer.
4) Create NEW port==>Local port
5) Portname is \\XPMACHINE\SHAREDPRINTER
6) Now Windows 7 will load a driver and you'll be able to print on the XP machine.
Simple
(For a "Network stand alone printer") at 4) chose TCPIP port
and at 5) enter the IP address.
If the printer is on the Windows 7 machine and you want to print on the XP machine then do the same instructions on the XP machine --
port name in this case will be \\W7MACHINE\SHAREDPRINTER

Diablo 3 Sacrifices PvP To Be Able To Launch Soon
The good news is that Diablo 3 is days away from being ready for release. The bad news is, Blizzard had to sacrifice PvP in order to do so.
“As we’re counting down the days until we’re ready to announce a release date for Diablo III,” the company explained on the game’s official blog. “We’ve come to realize that the PvP game and systems aren’t yet living up to our standards.
As a result, Blizzard “made the difficult decision to hold back the PvP Arena system and release it in a patch following the game’s launch.”
“After a lot of consideration and discussion, we ultimately felt that delaying the whole game purely for PvP would just be punishing to everyone who’s waiting to enjoy the campaign and core solo/co-op content, all of which is just about complete.”
When the PvP patch is ultimately ready, it will add multiple Arena maps with themed locations and layouts, PvP-centric achievements, and a matchmaking system that will help players get into fairly matched games quickly and easily.

Why Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak lined up for the new iPad
Anyone would feel bad about missing the new Apple iPad preorder period. It's pretty annoying having to stand in line to get your tablet, especially if you're at the end of a long and winding queue. But there was one person who lined up for the new iPad on his own volition when he could've easily got his hands on Apple's newest device — Steve Wozniak, also known as "the other Steve" of Apple.
Wozniak co-founded Apple with Steve Jobs in 1976. While he doesn't work full time for the company anymore, he's still an employee and a stockholder. His lining up outside an Apple Store doesn't mean it's excessively hard to find a device, though — it's a ritual that he's been doing for years. But while he's been first in line for many prior Apple devices, this time, there was someone else who got there before he did — his wife.
"I want to be one of the people lined up and wait[ing] all night," he said in an interview. You can watch the entire chat with Wozniak above, where he also praised the features of the new iPad.

Fashion Faceoff - Kendall Jenner vs. Kim Kardashian
Fashion Faceoff Kendall Jenner vs. Kim Kardashian
Up-and-coming model Kendall showed off her long legs in the dress. She sported it with a sleek ponytail, but otherwise let it speak for itself as she walked the red carpet for the premiere of "The Hunger Games" Monday in L.A.
More than a year ago, Kim made the design just part of her look for the NYC soiree celebrating the season finale of E!'s "The Spin Crowd" - remember that show?! - way back on October 6, 2010. Big sis Kim styled her hair the same way as Kendall's, but she also added black tights, an oversized belt, and, of course, plenty of makeup.
This is one frock that we shouldn't be surprised to see any of the Kardashian gals wearing, because they obviously adore it. "It's such an amazing dress!" Kim gushed on her blog. "I got it when I was in Paris with my mom in 2010 when we met Mr. Alaia himself. I remember I always used to try on my mom's Alaia dresses when I was younger, so I'm glad I have younger sisters I can share my favorite pieces with." While Kim's sentiment is sweet, the truth is, sisters or not, only one woman can emerge victorious. In this case, the clear winner for me is Kendall, thanks to her simple styling. Kim's tights and belt are just too much to add when she's already wearing a busy pattern.
